Emma C. Jamison Wells, 97, of Pearland, Texas passed away on July 23, 2011. She was born Nov. 1, 1913, on Clear Creek to a pioneer family who settled in Pearland in its beginning. Her parents were Martha Helemecke Jamison and Bert Means Jamison. She was recognized by the Pearland Historical Society as the oldest native born woman in Pearland. Emma worked with her family in farming and ranching in her early life, having worked the fig orchards and the fig processing plant in Friendswood. She later worked 19 years for the Pearland School District. In her teen years she rode horseback everyday checking on the family livestock in the area that is now Green Tee Terrace. Her entire life was spent on what is now Yost Blvd. She saw many hard times in early day Pearland, coming from a family of 12 children. The children had to walk over 3 miles to school on mud roads and free roaming livestock grazed where highway 518 is today. Ms. Emma as she was lovingly known loved her family very much and received great joy from her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. She loved raising cattle so much and passed her cattle brand down to her great grandson. Emma was preceded in death by her husband Louis Wells, brothers Sam, Jake, Jim, William and Bert Jamison, and sisters Verna Yost and Jean Puls. She is survived by two daughters, Margie Wells of Pearland and Wanda Moyle of Rosharon; 4 grandchildren, Pamela Cochran and husband Robert, Cathy Reber Ripple, Ray Moyle, Jr. and wife Amy, Travis Moyle and wife Brenda; 6 great grandchildren, Ashley Ford and husband Tim, Ryan Ripple, Boone, Sloan, Avery and Alyssa Moyle, and one great great grandchild, Payton Ford. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert and Allen Jamison, and Quinton Jamison and wife Wanda; one sister, Florence Gum and husband Donald. She also leaves her beloved neighbors, the Jerry Borrer and Sammy Campo Families that contributed much help and love to her. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, July 26, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St. in Pearland, TX. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
