Eloy Mungia Rosalez
Born August 26, 1938, in the small town of Yorktown, TX and entered into eternal rest, with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 28, 2026. Eloy was 87 years old.
He was the first born out of 2 brothers and 3 sisters. His father passed away when he was 6 years old. Being the oldest of the siblings, he only completed the 7th grade because he had to work to help his mother provide for the family.
He had a love of old classic cars and trucks and loved working or tinkering around with them. But it was his passion and love for music that was probably the most enjoyable thing to him. He was a musician in his teenage years. He played drums, bass, a bit of guitar, and sometimes a little red harmonica. He was the drummer in a Tex-Mex conjunto band with his uncle, Cleo Mungia and cousins, called Conjunto Falcon.
His uncle owned a local dancehall in that small town, where they played music for the community and other surrounding areas and events. It was at one of those events that he met his first wife, Janie Carrisalez, from the nearby town of Thomaston, TX. After dating for a few years, they were married on February 24th, 1963. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Houston to build a life and family together. They had 2 children, Norma and Billy Rosalez. Janie went to be with Lord in 2003, after 40 years of marriage.
Although Eloy only had a 7th grade education… he was very smart, intelligent, and knowledgeable. Professionally, he became a Pipe Fitter and Welder by trade, manufacturing pipelines, large tanks, and pressure vessels for the oil and gas industries. But he was also known for being a Jack of all trades and loved working with his hands. It didn’t matter if it was construction, roofing, framing, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, automotive, paint and body, heating and air conditioning… the list goes on. If you needed help with something or needed something built, fixed or repaired… he would do it, and it was probably better than it was before. He was also a bit stubborn and hardheaded, as well as being a perfectionist. If it wasn’t done right or wasn’t straight… he wasn’t happy with it.
Later, Eloy married Betty Lou Reese. They were each other’s support, best friend, and Prayer partner. They loved going to Church and spending time with family, grandkids, and great granddaughter. Betty spoiled Eloy, any chance she could. She was his personal chauffer and they loved tagging along with each other, no matter where they went. She also went above and beyond and became his devoted caretaker. They were married for almost 22 years.
Eloy is preceded in death by his parents, Vidal and Jesusita Rosalez, his sister Herminia “Minnie” Villarreal, and grandson Anthony Mottu.
He is survived by his beloved wife Betty Rosalez, daughter Norma Rosalez (Chad Nunn), son Billy Rosalez, grandchildren Alex, Destiny, and Vanessa Rosalez (Erik Guererro), great granddaughter Ariel Rosalez, his brother Ernest Rosalez (Dolores), sisters Teresa Cano, Louisa Villarreal... and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews
