Eloisa Acuna Toops, beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother, passed away leaving behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and love.
Born to Edward Acuna Sr. and Margaret Acuna, Eloisa was the fourth of six children. She grew up surrounded by her siblings: Edward Acuna Jr., Elida Livergood, Elia Acuna, Michael Acuna, and Martin Acuna. Among three boys and three girls, Eloisa was the youngest daughter, cherished for her warmth and determination. She is survived by her brothers Edward Jr., Michael, and Martin, who continue to honor her memory.
Eloisa graduated from Mineral Wells High School and went on to complete business school, earning certification as a Court Reporter. Her professional journey reflected her sharp intellect and commitment to excellence.
On March 14, 1969, Eloisa married the love of her life, Richard Toops. Together they welcomed their son, Jeremy Brian Toops, on January 22, 1970. Eloisa’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and though Jeremy’s life was tragically cut short in October 1990, her love for him endured beyond his passing.
Eloisa’s career took her into public service, where she worked as a DEA agent. In the mid-1980s through 1990, she was stationed in Colombia, serving with courage and integrity during a challenging era. Following Jeremy’s car accident, Eloisa returned immediately to Pearland, Texas, where she remained close to her family and community.
Eloisa will be remembered for her strength, her commitment to justice, and her deep love for her family. Her life was marked by service, sacrifice, and devotion, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
