Mr. Elmick J. Brasseaux Jr.'s Obituary
Elmick Joseph Brasseaux, Jr. (Sonny), age 73, passed away on August 30, 2018. He was born and raised in Houston, TX to Elmick and Laura Brasseaux.
A lifelong Houston resident, Sonny graduated from Galena Park High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1963-1973. He married Carol Vincik in August 1971. Health issues forced him into early retirement, but he continued to volunteer at the Fort Bend Hospital and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital for 27 years. He also spent time attending his daughters numerous dance recitals and drill team competitions. Later, he and Carol enjoyed traveling and going on many of their beloved cruises. Sonny often joked that he traded one ship for another. He also enjoyed attending dance competitions for his granddaughter Lindsay and many, many baseball, basketball, soccer and football games for his grandsons Mason, Marshall, Ryan, and Michael.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Brasseaux; his daughters Monica Camille (Ken) and Jaclyn Dugas (Derrick); grandchildren Lindsay, Mason, Marshall, Ryan and Michael; sister Barbara Wingate and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents Elmick and Laura Brasseaux; brothers Alvin and Gilbert Brasseaux, and sister Laura Brown.
We would like to thank Dr. Nadim Nasir, Deanna, Leah, Laura and his entire team for the gracious care they provided over the past 25 years. We would also like to thank Dera, Raymond, Shantal and Gertha from AllStar Hospice for the loving care, kindness and compassion during his final journey.
Visitation will be Thursday September 6, 2018 from 5-6:30pm followed by a Rosary and Vigil from 6:30-7:30 at the Chapel of Divine Mercy at St. Laurence Catholic Church. 3100 Sweetwater Blvd. Sugar Land, TX 77479
The Funeral Service and mass will be held Friday September 7, 2018 at 10am at St. Laurence Catholic Church. A reception will immediately follow until 1pm at the Church Hall.
Burial will be at 2pm at South Park Funeral Home. 1310 North Main Street Pearland, TX 77581
