Ellen was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Felix and Cora Kuhlmann She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Warren E. Hlavin, Sr., her sisters, Olivia Treibs, Helen Stehling, and Vernell Doebbler, and her brother Calvin Kuhlmann. Ellen was later blessed to meet and marry Bob Justice, who also preceded her in death.
Ellen and Warren started their lives together in Baltimore, Maryland where they married and their children were born. They later moved back to Texas, settling in Houston where they raised their children. They then moved to Pearland.
To all who knew Ellen, she was the best undeclared pastry chef in the area. Many of her friends and family were fortunate to enjoy many of her excellent baked goods, especially the senior group at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland, where she was a member for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Ellen is survived by her children: Warren E. Hlavin, Jr. (Jamie) of Martinez,
GA; daughter Corinn Russo of Pearland, TX; Steve Hlavin (Toni) of League City, TX; and stepdaughter Deb Zimmer (Steve). She has five beloved grandchildren: James E. Ellen was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Jas Hlavin; Warren and Layla Russo; Cain, Damian, and Dominic Landry; Clayton and Carson Stevenson; and Anthony and Cameron Hlavin.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Trinity Oaks who helped our mother during the last four years of her life, as well as special thanks to Magnolia Hospice for their care during those last few weeks as she prepared to receive her wings. God bless everyone who shared in her life and knew her to be a kind and loving person.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11: 00 am with funeral service to follow from
11:00am to noon at Epiphany Lutheran Church on 5515 Broadway, Pearland. Lunch will be provided at the church, and burial will follow at South Park Cemetery, 1310 Main St., Pearland.
