Mrs. Elizabeth J. Kahanek's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Josephine Kahanek, 85, of Wharton, Texas passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Luchak; daughter, Elizabeth Kahanek; siblings, Bill, Mary, Millie, Martha and Frances. Betty Jo Kahanek is survived by her husband of 64 years, Valentine; children, Val and wife Hermelinda, Chris and wife Angel, Teresa and husband Joe, Pauline and husband Andy, and Jennifer. Siblings Johnnie, Patricia and Bobby. She has 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Betty Jo was involved with scouting for 30 years, CDA for 40 years, and with many church activities. Val and Betty went family camping, cruising and loved to dance. The family will receive family and friends Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 6703 Whitefriars Dr. Houston, Texas 77087. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Thursday, January 5, 2017. Burial is to follow in Southpark Cemetery in Pearland. Donations can be made to St. Dominic Village Patron Corps by calling Kimberly Elliott at 713-741-8700 or having masses said at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Holy Family in Wharton, or St. Dominic Village.
