Mr. Elias Garcia Jr.'s Obituary
Elias Garcia ,Jr. 90, born September 26, 1918 entered into rest Thursday, November 13, 2008. Elias had lived in Pearland since 1943. He worked for Proler Steel for more than 40 years. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his son, Ector Garcia, sister, Magdalena Garza and brother, Raul Garcia. Survivors include his loving wife, Eufemia Garcia; sons, Lupe Garcia and his wife, Leticia, Elias Garcia, III and his wife, Lisa and Daniel Garcia and his wife, Diana; daughters, Naomi (Mimi) Lopez and her husband, Augustine and Norma Smith; brother, Evaristo Garcia; sisters, Olivia Garcia and Rachel Garcia. He also leaves to cherish his memory twenty grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Mr. Garcia was a longtime volunteer at Pearland Neighborhood Center. He was awarded many city appreciation certificates and was an election official. He also received a certificate of appreciation for his community service from former President George Bush and his wife Barbara. Elias faithfully served his country for four years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with a rank of T-5 Corporal.
