Mr. Edwin "Eddie" Gaddis' Obituary
Let us rejoice that Edwin Glenn Gaddis has made his way home to the Lord! Eddie was born July 24, 1932 in Clarksville, Texas to the late Henry Isaac Gaddis and Willie Mae (Hopkins) Gaddis of Red River County. He attended San Jacinto High School and went on to graduate from Massey Business College. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a sergeant in the "C" company of the 109th Engineers. Apart from the numerous entrepreneurial ventures he enjoyed, Eddie is most known for his dedicated service to the local community as a firefighter during his 28 year career with the Houston Fire Department. He retired as a Captain from the NASA station in 1988. His greatest love in life was spending time with the family that he and his devoted wife of 47 years, Gayle Patricia (Gottlick) Gaddis, have built together. Family vacations with the grandchildren especially made his heart glisten through and through. Eddie was a friend to all, and his kindness and patience will be remembered most by all those blessed to call him friend. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, sons Edwin "Glenn", Gary Matthew and will now join his son Guy Patrick, who was slain in service as a Houston Police Officer in 1994. He is also preceded in death by his brothers John Henry, Raymond, and Billy and his sister Doris Ray and brother-in-law Charles Gottlick . He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Ange and grandchildren Justyn Glenn, Stephanie Patricia, Abigail Marie, Taylor James, Mallory Alexis, and Shane Patrick Gaddis, special friends Sheila Marie Carpenter Gaddis, Stephen Mora, and Jeff Armbruster, his sister Pat Reeves and her cherished sons, daughter, and adorable grandchildren as well as brother- and sister-in-laws and cherished families of Russell and Joyce Gottlick, Bernadette and George Lopez, and Maureen Gottlick.
