Edwin Brown's Obituary
Edwin Lee Brown, 90, of Houston passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 in Schulenburg TX. Edwin (Ed) was born on October 11, 1921 in Almeda (Houston) TX. to James Randal Brown and Ida Beryl Harris Brown Parker. Ed left home in 1940 to join the Navy and was aboard the USS Lexington which left Pearl Harbor on Friday December 5, 1941. He survived the sinking of the Lex the following May. Ed was a 60 year member of Almeda United Methodist Church and worked for the church in numerous capacities over the years. Our Dad will be loved and remembered by all as one who taught and led by example. He was truly a good and gentle man. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, James Randal Brown Jr.; and his wife of 60 years, Alberta S. Smith Brown. He is survived by his son, Edwin Lee Brown Jr. of Columbus, TX. and his wife Terrie Brown, daughter Janet Eileen Brown of Bastrop, TX. and her husband Lee McCulley; grandsons, Scott M. Brown, David C. Newman, Kelly D. Brown, Troy C. Newman, Brian A. Cullins; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Newman, Grace Cullins, Brooke Cullins, Emily Parrish and Katie Newman; great grandsons Nathan Newman and Ethan Parrish. The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, January 5 at 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main, Pearland, TX . Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Almeda United Methodist Church, 14300 Almeda School Rd, Houston, TX 77047.
