Edward Stephen Pesina's Obituary
Edward Stephen Pesina
September 24, 1953 – September 30, 2024
Edward Stephen Pesina, born on September 24, 1953, in the North Side of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, surrounded by family and love. He lived a life full of adventure, humor, and resilience. A proud son of the late Dolores Hernandez and Edward R. Pesina, Edward was shaped by strong family values that he carried with him throughout his life.
Edward attended Reagan High School before enlisting in the United States Army. Eager to serve his country, he enlisted for two years to avoid being drafted during the Vietnam War. He served honorably as a Specialist 4th Class, SVB 1st Bn 78th Arty, 2d Armd Div FORSCOM out of Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he was a Truck Master. For his dedicated service, Edward was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
After his military service, Edward pursued a career as a truck driver, which allowed him to experience the beauty of the United States firsthand. His favorite places were Wyoming and Montana, where the landscapes reminded him of stunning paintings. In contrast, New York City was his least favorite place to drive through—a sentiment he often shared with humor. Edward retired after many years on the road, having traveled far and wide, gathering stories along the way.
Family was Edward’s greatest pride. He was a devoted father to his biological children, Rachel Garza and Nancy Pesina, and a loving grandfather to Maximiliano Alvino Ledesma, Blake McFarlane, Madeleine Garza, Jade Garza, Jace Garza, and Jena Garza. He also embraced his stepchildren, Jimmy Balderas, Jerry Balderas, Judy Balderas, Jessica Solis, and EB (Eugene) Balderas, treating them with the same love and care.
Edward is survived by his loving sister, Gloria Ann Flores, and is now reunited with his brothers, Fredrick Pesina and Robert Pesina, who preceded him in death. His daughter Nancy never left his side during his final months, offering unwavering love and support. She was joined by her Aunt Gloria, whose care and compassion brought great comfort to Edward and Nancy during this difficult time. Her love and dedication will forever be remembered with deep gratitude.
Services to honor Edward’s life will be held Friday October 11, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Southpark Funeral Home, located at 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581. A Rosary will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Edward’s life, share stories, and honor the memory of a man who was a father, a brother, a hero, and a beloved friend. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
May he rest in peace.
