Edmund Clarence Houle Jr.'s Obituary
Edmund Clarence Houle, Jr., "Ed", was called home to be with the Lord September 10, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Ed was born June 30, 1958, in Anaheim, California, to Edmund and Ofelia Houle.
He was preceded in death by parents Edmund C. Houle, Sr and Ofelia Alba Houle, brother Alan Houle, sister, Alice Pancamo and brother-in-law Greg Sohlden. Niece, Amber Knight, nephews; Timothy Anderson and Brandon Helderman.
Ed is survived by his sisters: Belinda Lobas (Dean), Melissa Sohlden, Mary Knight (Tim), Theresa Leske (Andreas), Cathy Anderson (Mark), sister-in-law, Karen Houle and brother-in-law, Dan Pancamo.
Numerous nieces, and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Growing up, Ed moved often with his family and lived in many different cities in California, Michigan and Ohio. The family moved to Texas in 1975 and settled in Pearland. He was a graduate of Pearland High School (1976) and received an Associates Degree, with honors, from Alvin Community College.
Ed worked for Halliburton Energy Services Inc., as a Designer, and held a patent for a drill bit design with a coworker. He also worked as a Designer for Baker Hughes, and various subsidiaries of the company for many years. He and brother Alan, owned and ran Odyssey Comic and Cards, located in Houston, Texas.
Ed loved music! He listened to and played all kinds. He was a musician and love to jam with family and friends. His guitars, amplifiers and microphones were set up and he was always ready to play. He was intelligent, witty, and quite a character. He was a quirky man with strong opinions. Ed was interested in a lot of different things; guitars, aliens, God, investing, politics, and much more. He was an amateur collector of a variety of curious things.
Ed had a stroke in October 2014 and was disabled as a result . He lived in an assisted living community until his health took a turn for the worse and he required continual care. He was a resident of Park Manor at the time of his death. Special thanks to caregivers Mandy and Alisha who loved and cared for Ed for many years.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held on September 30th, from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Friends and family are invited to join together to share a meal and honor Ed's memory and share stories of his life.
