Mr. Edgar Leon Martin Jr.'s Obituary
Leon passed away on Monday evening January 2, 2012 after several years of battling congestive heart problems. He was born in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1922. Leon attended Milby High School and honorably served in the US Coast Guard from March 17, 1942 to February 12, 1946 on the US LST 770 which saw duty in the Philippines during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie; Father, Edgar; brothers, Bill, Pete and Harmon; sister, Pearl Latson and daughter, Nancy Mistric. He is survived by Dorothy, his loving bride of 62 years; sons, Bill, Joe, Mike and wife, Carolyn Martin; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Janee Lowrance, Stacy and wife, Shelia Lowrance, David and wife, Rae Martin, Jason Martin, Chris Martin, Andy Martin and Shelly Dever, and his great grandchildren, Cody and Haily Dever, Colby, Christine, Casey and Carly Lowrance, Danielle, Raydon, Kaidyn, Courtney and Stephanie.
Besides being with his lovely wife and family, Leon loved to fish, play 42 with his buddies at Heritage Park Baptist Church and visiting with all his new friends at the Terrace Retirement Home.
Leon was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend to many people. He will be fondly remembered by all his kindness and sense of humor.
