Mr. Duncan McDonald's Obituary
Duncan Scott McDonald went to sleep in the arms of Jesus at the age of 61, at home with his mother and sister in Fresno, Texas, on April 8, 2014. Duncan was strong and courageous in fighting his battle with biliary cancer, trusting God with all his heart.
He was born in Wayne Michigan on January 1, 1953, at Nankin Hospital. He is the son of Joseph and Monette McDonald, and brother to Phil McDonald and Sheila Rivera. He is the loving father of Dorothy Monette Lightsey, and proud grandfather of Joey Lemonis, Matthew Lightsey, Michael Lightsey, Jeremiah Broxton, Jacob Broxton, and Tommy Hayes. He is stepfather of Jaime Justen. Dunc is a proud veteran of the United States Army 1-60th infantry unit in Alaska. Dunc was passionate about helping hurting people struggling with addictions in his hometown of St. Augustine, Florida. Dunc is survived by his grandchildren Joey and wife Deidra (and their sons Brayden and Jace), Matt, Mike, Jeremiah, Jacob and Tommy, his stepdaughter Jaime, his brother Phil and wife Faith, his sister Sheila and husband Jose, and mother Monette McDonald nieces and nephews Sarah, Kristin, Joseph and Abraham.
Loved ones who had gone home before him include his wife Kim McDonald, his daughter Dorothy Lightsey and her mother Donna Davis, father Joseph William McDonald, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held April 13, 2014, Palm Sunday, at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581, 281/485-2711. Visitation at 12:00 noon and service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with reception at the home of Jose and Sheila Rivera afterwards. Burial will be 1:00 PM, Monday April 14, 2014 at the VA Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, 281/447-8686. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to assist homeless veterans find temporary housing, allowing them time to rest, recuperate, and regain the ability to care for themselves can be made to: Michael E.
