Dougald Oswald McFadyen's Obituary
Dougald (Doug) Oswald McFadyen passed quietly in his sleep on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the age of eighty-seven. Doug was born in Polk County Florida to Oswald and Ethel McFadyen. When the family moved to Texas they resided in Galena Park, where Doug would attend school and later graduate. Doug went on to attend a technical school where he studied drafting and later was employed at Moser Steel in Houston for his career. After retiring from Moser, Doug went on to work for Wieners Department Store as an associate until he could fully retire.
Doug’s hobbies included his walks to the café to spend time, as he called it, on the liar’s bench with his friends telling stories. He was a talented artist and spent many hours drawing and enjoyed watching old westerns. He grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Galena Park where he was an active member until he had to move to a nursing home due to health issues in 2016.
Doug was a strong individual overcoming many obstacles in life. As a young child, he was diagnosed with Polio which left him with a limp. He never let that stop him. Doug was preceded in death by both his parents and his sisters, Carolyn McCollum, Jean Reece, and Bert Reid.
In lieu of any flowers the family has asked that any donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Galena Park Ministry to assist the church that he loved so much.
