Dorothy Ruth Tharp, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30,2022, in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Willard Tharp. Left to cherish her memory daughter Coe Ann and husband Dennis; son Clay and his wife Susanne; sister Faye Orr; four grandchildren: Jerred (Stacey), Kerre (Alethea), Cameron and Mason; three great-grandchildren: Kynsley, Kolby and Zoe; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Dorothy was born in Houston, Texas, to Mason and Frances Baker, she attended Reagan High School. Dorothy worked at Homco, Big Bonus Stamp and Harrison Construction Company. She married Willard on May 26, 1950, until his death in 1990.
Dorothy loved to travel “be on the go”, read quilting and work on family genealogy. She worked in the church library for several years at the Freeway Manor Baptist Church, before moving to South Main Baptist church in Pasadena, Texas.
Dorothy loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Two of her most favorite country western singers were George Strait and Willie Nelson. She would listen to each of their CD’s over and over and over and over.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday July 6,2022 at 11am at South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, Texas. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am. The service will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 13401 East Texas Freeway and Lauder Road, Houston, Texas.
