Dorothy graduated from Reagan High School and grew up in the Heights.
Dorothy was a very dedicated Christian; and member of North Main Baptist Church. She faithfully tithed ten percent of her income her entire adult life even before she considered her own personal needs. She founded the library at North Main Baptist Church and served as the church Librarian.
She supported many charities to the extreme and felt a special interest in the Veterans of Foreign War, especially since all seven of her brothers served in the military.
Dorothy retired from Union Carbide Corporation, Linde Division, Industrial Gases in 1981, after 38 years of dedicated service.
She volunteered for many years of her life in several areas including the Houston Public Library, Heights Branch; where she received the award for Volunteer of the Year for serving 1,500 hours of volunteer service with the Library. She also volunteered for many years at Heights Hospital and Heights Hospital Gift Shop.
She made lifetime memories on a trip to the Holy Land with a group from her church and a trip to Hawaii.
Dorothy eventually moved to Conroe to be near her surviving brothers, Jim and John and their wives. She lived in a senior’s gated apartment complex for years before moving to TeiGoRoc Retirement Home. The family is especially thankful for Jacque and Patrick Teich for their loving care in her final years.
The family will receive friends Thursday October 8, 2015 from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Southpark Funeral Home 1310 North Main St. Pearland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday October 9, 2015 at 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel.
