Mrs. Dorothy Cook's Obituary
Dorothy Long Cook , 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 24, 2011. Dorothy was a Pearland native, a life long member of First United Methodist Church of Pearland and a member of The Rebecca Lodge of Alvin. She retired from the City of Pearland after 23 years of dedicated service where she served as City Secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Long and Harriett Howard Long; her beloveded husband of 49 years, Charles Kenneth Cook; her siblings, John Long, Nellie Patterson, Ernest Long, Alice Borden and Mildred Collins. She is survived by her children, Mark Cook and wife Melanie, Marylyn Hassanein and husband Reda; 4 grandchildren, Yousra Hassanein, Glen Manis Jr., Anthony Liles, Sara Payne and husband David; great grandchild, Hayden Payne; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives, friends and her care giver, Sarah Walker. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00AM until service time at 12:30PM in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St. in Pearland. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations be made in Dorothy's name to the Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to the charity of your choice.
