Donna Gail Hering Lawrence's Obituary
Donna Gail Hering Lawrence, an educator and lifelong resident of Texas, died on August 15, 2023, at the age of 69 in Houston, TX,
Donna was born on April 24, 1954 in La Marque, Texas, and graduated from University of Texas at Austin with her Bachelors in Education. She went on to earn a Masters in Counseling at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and entered into a long and rewarding career in the public school system. She married her husband, Arthur “Larry” Lawrence on December 7, 1980, and went on to welcome two daughters- her “girls” Bethany and Resa.
Donna was a Steel Magnolia who loved to laugh; she prized pulling pranks and always appreciated a good chuckle. She was the epitome of “Work hard, play hard”-her colleagues often found themselves to be members of her family without even knowing it. A strong Christian woman, she extolled her values through her everyday life and quiet evangelizing. While sometimes subtle as a chainsaw, she had a way about her that captivated the masses and fed the soul that was hungry. Fearless and endlessly capable, she is remembered and missed by all who knew her.
Donna is survived by her husband, Larry Lawrence, her daughters Resa Weston, Bethany Lawrence and fiancé Wang Chuang, sister in law Marjie Lawrence and partner Mary Tonsager, grandchildren Connor, Olivia, and Ainsley Weston, nieces Jana Norton, Wenlan and Sophie Lawrence, and nephew John Hering. She is predeceased by her parents, JC and Sibyl Hering, as well as her brother and sister in law Paul and Marla Hering.
A Greeting of Family and Friends will be held at 2pm, with a funeral service to follow at 3 pm, at the South Park Funeral Home at 1310 N Main Street in Pearland, Texas. Flowers may be received there, and donations in her memory may be made to Autism Speaks at www.autismspeaks.org.
