Mr. Donald L. Ward's Obituary
Donald L. Ward entered into Heaven on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Houston, Texas at the age of 81. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jane Lale and the late D.J.Ward on July 8, 1933.
Don graduated from high school in Paint Rock, TX and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas. After serving his country in the US Army, he was employed by the Department of Defense and then for NASA. He began his employment at NASA in the early days of the program and had many different tasks in the Apollo, Gemini and later programs. He was employed at NASA as both a programmer and later working with contracts for computer equipment. He worked at NASA for over 50 years and retired in 2006. He was a long-time member of South Main Baptist Church, and loved to attend both the Sunday services and the Wednesday night Bible study. He loved to play dominoes, travel, and enjoy all the beautiful sights of nature from the oceans to the mountains to the night skies.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Joy Ward and father D.J.Ward. He is survived by his mother, Jane Lale; son, Dennis and daughter, Nancy; four grandchildren, Randall and his wife Chrissy, Rachel, Madeline and Justin Ward and their mother Sandy Ward, companion Dianne Robinson and special friend Karen Gravitt. He is also survived by his sisters, Danya Ogden and Jeannie Jennings and brother-in-law Jed Jennings and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015 from 9:30am until Service time at 11:00am at South Main Baptist Church, 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy South in Pasadena, TX. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
