I started MATSCO in 1982, so I've know Don what feels like most of my life. Not only a great mentor, but a great friend who was always there if I needed advice on work issues or personal ones. He was a funny fellow who I tried forever to go with us and eat Mexican food, but he would have no part of it! I never gave up though. We worked on a proposal which meant long hours and I recall one of the funniest moments when we were down to the wire, everyone was working diligently to get last minutes details finished up; it was late in the evening and Don was walking around in his socks and was frantic that it wouldn't get finished. He knew we needed some laughs at that point and laugh we did. So many great memories over there years sharing cook-offs, contract wins, contract losses and so much more.
Don was so proud of his beautiful family and was so sad when he lost his beautiful wife. Now they are reunited. I'm certain he is celebrating with his signature 'tall rum and coke'. Don, you will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to have you in their lives.

Joyce and I knew Don during our years at Watercrest. Our most frequent encounter was at the bridge table where he was favored partner. His quiet personality was well suited to the game of bridge. His unassuming nature had him arrive close to the starting time and if there were too many players that day he would fade away leaving room for someone else.
As a regular with the men’s breakfast group there was always a good time as world problems were being solved.
Our lives are richer having known this kind and gentle man. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences for the Knapp family in the loss of Don. Wishing you all peace and comfort at this time.
Don has a special place in my heart. He was an amazing person to know and I enjoyed working with him. When i was facing some difficult decisions in my life Don was the one who would listen and advise. He always knew how to make me laugh! I will always be grateful for our friendship and will be deeply missed. Don is now with his love MaryAnn! Rest in peace my dear friend.
