Dolores Ledbetter's Obituary
Dolores “Dee” Ledbetter, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Born on August 21, 1939, in Arkansas to Mildred Irene and Warren Baugh, Dee lived a life marked by love, devotion, and quiet strength. On December 22, 1957, she married the love of her life, Clarence Ledbetter, and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, faith, and family.
Dee was a devoted mother to Judith Johnston and husband Emery Johnston, and to Craig Ledbetter and wife Felicia Ledbetter. One of her most treasured roles in life was being a grandmother to Laura Mabry, Melanie Mabry Loyd, Michael Mabry, and Lindsey Ledbetter. Later in life, she delighted in her role as great-grandmother to Noah Murdock, Elijah Murdock, Georgia Bedre, Micah Murdock, Lola Loyd, Estelle Mabry, and Nicholas Mabry. She is also survived by her loving sister, Pat Prentice, and husband Jerry Prentice, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and sisterly love. As well as her brother, Randy Leal, and wife Debbie Leal, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Known for her loud laugh that could fill a room, her eye for decorating, timeless sense of style, and gentle spirit, Dee had a way of making everyone feel at home in her presence. She truly lit up every room she walked into. She found joy in collecting owls and Hallmark ornaments—each one a reflection of her sentimental heart and love for tradition. She loved decorating for every holiday, but Christmas was her favorite. Her home sparkled with more Christmas trees than most could count—each lovingly arranged to celebrate the season she treasured most. Christmas at Dee’s house was pure magic—filled with family, love, and laughter—a tradition that will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Dee lived life with energy and joy. She was active throughout her years, enjoying bowling, square dancing, rollerblading, hula hooping, and Zumba. She adored Elvis Presley, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, trips to the movies and Galveston, shopping at Foley’s, and her signature scent, Estée Lauder’s “Beautiful.”
Dee’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be forever remembered. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched with her compassion and grace.
