Dolly Loraine (Spiller) Coufal's Obituary
Dolly L. (Spiller) Coufal of Houston, Texas passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019. Dolly was born in Freeport, Texas to Joshua Rolla Spiller and Iola Orlena (Bryan) Spiller on November 25, 1930. Dolly graduated from Freeport High School in 1949 and was married to Lynn E. Coufal on July 23, 1949. They had two children, Cindy and Jeff.
Dolly worked for many years as a financial and legal secretary, for construction companies and for legal and medical offices. Dolly was a long time resident of Pasadena, TX and then Pearland, TX. Dolly attended Southmore and Second Baptist churches in Pasadena and later Shadycrest Baptist Church in Pearland. After moving to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, she attended Houston's First Baptist Church and the Jeremiah 29:11 Life Bible Study class.
Dolly was passionate about music, family and serving her community of faith. She sang in choirs and was a soloist at church. She also sang with a small ensemble for many years. She enjoyed flower arranging, jewelry and making candy – especially divinity.
Dolly was preceded in death by her mother Iola Spiller, her father Joshua R. Spiller, her brother William R. Spiller, US Army, MIA Korean War and her younger sister Julia (Spiller) Brown Shannon.
Dolly is survived by her children Cynthia Lynn (Coufal) Mangrum and husband Karl and her son Jeffrey Layne Coufal and wife Vyonne, five grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation is at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019. Funeral services will be held at Houston's First Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 5 with viewing at 9:30 AM, service at 10:30 AM with reception following the service. The graveside service is at 2:00 PM at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N Main Street, Pearland, TX.
