Devin Chris Hernandez passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and unwavering love. Born on December 23, 1969, in Houston, Texas, Devin was a man whose presence lit up every room and whose heart embraced everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Victor and Mary Hernandez; Sister Doreen Berryhill; Brother David Hernandez and his wife, Deana; Sister Denise Colvin and her husband, Ken; and Brother Dan Hernandez and his wife, Shawn. Devin also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, along with a large and loving extended family.
Devin was preceded in death by his grandparents Cruz and Elaiza Hernandez and Mary Carkeet; Aunt Maria Duran and her husband Al Duran; Aunt Irene Portales and her husband Carlos Portales; Aunt Rebecca Cowan; and Uncle Frank Davalos.
A proud graduate of Klein Oak High School in 1989, Devin later pursued his passion for the culinary arts, earning a degree in Culinary Services from Houston Community College in 2005. His love for creating marvelous dishes was more than a profession—it was a calling. Devin built a successful career in restaurants, country clubs, and management, where his creativity and dedication delighted countless guests and inspired colleagues.
Outside of work, Devin embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed attending live concerts, scuba diving, cheering on major league sports, and playing golf with family, friends, and acquaintances. His hobbies reflected his adventurous spirit and his love for shared experiences.
Known for his quick wit, compassionate nature, and ability to make others feel truly seen, Devin touched countless lives. Whether through a helping hand, a heartfelt conversation, or a perfectly timed joke, he made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
