Denise Marie Casel's Obituary
Denise Marie O’Neil-Casel of Lafayette, LA was born May 8, 1968 to Genevieve Francis and George O’Neil both of Lafayette, LA. Denise was called home on May 27, 2021 at the age of 53. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She attended school in Lafayette and was pursuing an associate degree in Business Administration AAS: Human Resource Specialization from Lone Star College. She met and later married Robert Casel in 2006 in Houston, TX. Denise obtained employment with Wells Fargo Bank, N.A; she rendered over 10 years of quality service starting out as a bank teller and later becoming an Assistant Branch Manager. She loved spending time creating delicious meals, playing basketball, jogging, playing cards and tabletop games with her family and friends.
Denise is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Robert Casel; 3 children Earl (Grace) Malveaux III of Albany, GA, Genevieve (Greg) Malveaux-Asemota and Justin Lee Malveaux both of Houston, TX; her parents Genevieve Francis of Houston, TX and George O’Neil of Lafayette, LA; 11 sisters: Della (Bernard) O’Neil-Thornton of Lansing KS, Kathleen (Jonathan) Phillips of Houston, TX, Tangela (Dwight) Elaire-Eaglin, Monique T. Maze-Barabin (Ron) of New Iberia, Louisiana, Katina (Earl) Elaire, Jacqueline (Malone) Elaire, Christina (Carroll) Elaire, Jennifer Elaire all of Lafayette, LA, Martha (Timothy) Summers of Chicago, IL, Vanessa (Rodney) Zeno-Wright of New Iberia and Miranda (Darryl) O’Neil-Brown of Houston, TX; 6 Brothers: George Elaire, Jermaine Elaire, John O’Neil all of Lafayette, LA, Shane (Candace) O’Neil of Carenco, LA, Donavon (Shawnetta) O’Neil of Breaux Bridge, LA and George (Shawne) O’Neil of Mermenteau, LA; her stepdaughter Teila (Rodan) Casel-Roberts of Houston, TX and stepson Chad Casel of Amarillo, TX; 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Denise was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Doris Francis and Clifton Andrus Sr. ; paternal grandparents Agnes O’Neil and George O’Neil Sr., her sisters Latonya Elaire and Yolanda O’Neil; her uncles Rodney Hulin Sr., James Senegal, Calvin Senegal, Clifton Andrus, Larry Andrus and her aunts Joyce Poydras, Mary Andrus, and Aunt Enola Andrus.
