Delores M. Cabler's Obituary
Delores Marie Cabler was born in Northwood, North Dakota, January 20,1927. She
moved to Brownsville Texas at the young age of 19. It was always a mystery why she
moved away from home. Was it because of the warmer weather or because of
the witty charm of one Jim Cabler whom she met while in the church choir? Anyway,
she went on to marry her best friend on March 7, 1948. They were determined to begin
building the life they always hoped for. In October 1950 their eldest daughter Darleen
was born and two and a half years later they welcomed their second daughter Charleen
into their lives. Then they left Brownsville and moved to Pasadena, Texas where their
third daughter Linda Sue was born in 1955. In the following years they made many trips
to Northwood to visit the Shervas and Korsmos. Brownsville was often visited to enjoy
the company of the Cablers. Mama always believed that family was the number one
priority in life. There was also hard work involved. Jim was employed by Shell Chemical
in Deer Park and Mama was a business manager for a local restaurant. Mama’s busy
work day also included spending many hours with her family. In the dictionary, when
you look up the definition of Wonder Woman you will see a photo of Mama. Delores
was a true leader in providing for and protecting her family. She was truly the glue that
bound her family together.
