Mrs Deckla Alice Halik's Obituary
Deckla A. Halik, born January 4, 1917 in Crosby, TX passed away October 2, 2008 in Houston, TX. Mrs. Halik's husband Vernon W. Halik and her son Douglas Halik precede her in death. She is survived by her children Carl Halik and his wife Paula, Alice Gehring and her husband Larry and CJ Halik and his wife Debbie; sisters, Mary Christensen, Helen Ferri, Agnes Sojak, and Bertha Mae Crummel; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Halik was retired from PISD, member of the Pearland Historical Society, Pearland Senior Citizens, and a charter member of St. Helen Catholic Church and had part in growing the church from the small mission to the church that it is today. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2008, in the chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St in Pearland. A mass of celebration will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd. at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the building fund at St. Helen Catholic Church, in Deckla A. Halik's name.
