Mr. David Norman Weldon's Obituary
David Norman Weldon,83, died October 2, 2007, in Pearland, Texas. Born in Yanish, OK, to Joseph W. Weldon and Edna Marie Mangrum Weldon, Norman joined the Navy in 1941, and served five years. He spent thirty-three months in the South Pacific completing seventy-seven missions with VPB 34, the 'Black Cat' Squadron, and VPB 81. Not only did he serve in his beloved Navy, but was temporarily assigned to the Army under General Douglas McArthur in the Philippines. Norman had a keen memory and sense of humor, and loved to tell stories of the famous PBYs' reconnaissance missions. After the military, he relocated to Edinburg, TX, and spent most of his life in the trucking business. In later years, he owned a Mobil station in Edinburg,TX, before finishing his career with ProLog, Inc., Pearland, TX. D.N. Weldon's daughter, Lynn Steele of Edinburg, TX, precedes him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Anne Louise McIntosh Weldon, Pearland TX; children, Norma (Owen) Fuqua, Early, TX, Carolyn Weldon, Pearland, TX, David Norman(Jerrie) Weldon II, Spring,TX; son-in-law, John Steele, Edinburg, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, Jacquelyn, Matthew, Mark, and Michael; sister, Kathryn (Richard) Hoffman, Canyon City, CO.; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
