David Gregory Fake's Obituary
David Gregory Fake passed away on August 28th, 2022 at the age of 68.
He was born in Burnet, Texas on August 11th, 1954 to Rev. Charles and Wanda (Sadler) Fake, growing up in various places around Texas before moving to Rockport, Texas in 1964. He married Janet (Albers) Fake in 1979; they raised their three children and many cats in Pearland, Texas.
David was an avid musician. He had a wonderful singing voice, played trombone in high school and college, and had a lifelong love of guitars. He loved to play, collect, and listen to guitars, and instilled a great love of musicianship in his children and others. David was also skilled as a handyman, learning to fix almost everything in the home and on cars.
David Fake was a graduate of Rockport Fulton High School as valedictorian, Del Mar College, Baylor University (chemistry) and Texas A&I University (electrical engineering). He worked as an engineer, primarily in the oil and gas industry, for 30 years.
David was preceded in death by his wife Janet Fake, mother Wanda Fake, sister Debbie Hamm, and parents-in-law Butch and Alta Albers. He is survived by his father Rev. Charles Fake, children Michael Fake, Melinda (John) Hodges, and Jennifer (Stephen) Haden, granddaughter Claire Haden, sister Dianna (Mark) Hinze, brothers Daniel and Dwight Fake, and beloved friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 pm at 105 N. Austin Street in Rockport, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Save the Music Foundation at www.savethemusic.org.
