Mr. Darrell Edward Mayfield's Obituary
Darrell E. Mayfield July 27, 1920 to Sept. 2, 2013 "Big D, Dad or PaPa". Our Dad lived a long and healthy life. He was 93 years old when he left this earth from his lifelong home since 1955. He was born in Goose Creek, TX and moved to Almeda, TX where he met his wife Carolyn when they were in their early teens. They both attended San Jacinto High School and married in San Francisco, CA as Dad was in the Navy and a veteran of WW II. After the war, he returned to Almeda, TX and went to work for 40 years at HL&P which is now Center Point Energy. He was a Mason and a member of the Holland Lodge. He was also a member of Almeda United Methodist Church. Darrell and Carolyn raised their two children in Almeda, TX which is now part of Houston. Darrell is survived by his wife of 68 years Carolyn. He is also survived by a daughter Carla (Cork) and a son Darrell (Dandy). Mackie Jones and Isaac Mayfield are Dads grandchildren and he has three beautiful great granddaughters Lauren, Audrey, and Caroline Jones. Grandson Ike and Courtney are expecting a baby girl in December. The family will receive visitors Friday, September 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. at Almeda United Methodist Church, 14300 Almeda School Road with Reverend Frances Foger officiating.
