Mrs. Danna Faye Jinks' Obituary
Danna Faye Jinks was born on July 29, 1930 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She moved to Houston in the mid 1940's where she spent the majority of her life. She had many roles in her life; daughter to Nancy and Clayton Hurst; big sister to John; wife to Bill Jinks; mother to Larry, Sharis and Darla; mother-in-law to Pat, Bernie and Barron; Nana to Georgie, Bryan, Sara, Mary and Cate, and friend to so many.
She spent her life serving God in numerous ways. She was a pastor's wife, played piano in services and Sunday School, served as nursery coordinator and a Sunday School teacher, sang In the choir, and planned more socials and parties than you can count. To put it mildly, she was there whenever the doors were open and she instilled that love of God and service in everyone in her family.
Danna always had her priorities in the right order. God, family, friends and the Astros. She lost the love of her life, Bill, unexpectedly in 1990 and her Astros in 2002 when she moved to Dallas and lost coverage, but she never lost touch with family and friends. She will be remembered by so many - not because of the things she accomplished - but rather by the number of people she could truly call a friend and who were touched by her loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Jinks; parents, Nancy and Clayton Hurst; brother, John Hurst. Mrs. Jinks was survived by son, Larry Jinks and wife Pat; daughters, Sharis and husband Bernie Hauder and Darla and husband Barron Honea; grandchildren, Georgana and Bryan Jinks, Sara, Mary and Cate Hauder and nieces, nephews and host of friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Southpark Funeral Home 1310 North Main St. Pearland, Texas 77581. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Southpark Cemetery.
