Mr. Daniel Valdivia's Obituary
Daniel Valdivia, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, at Houston Hospice. He was born in Laredo, Texas on August 17, 1928 to Luis Valdivia and Beatriz Alvarez Valdivia. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lupe, his parents and seven siblings. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Virginia and Manuel Rodriguez, Daniel L. Valdivia and Craig Miller, Bea and Gino Pagliuso, Robert and Shannon Valdivia, and Michael and Jhym Haynie-Valdivia. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Jane De La Cruz, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Upon discharge, he began his lifelong career in mattress manufacturing. An active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish for over 45 years, Daniel joyfully shared his faith through his beautiful tenor voice as a longtime member of the choir. He also delighted many by singing for family and friends at birthdays, weddings, and special occasions. He especially enjoyed playing golf and was an avid photographer, chronicling our family’s life for the last 67 years. The family would like to thank Houston Hospice for their loving care. Special thanks to Maria Betancourt, his personal caregiver, who provided exceptional care for the last 5 years. Visitation is from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, July 25, with Rosary recited at 8 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 11 AM, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 6723 Reed Rd. Houston, TX 77087. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt.
