Clifford Michael "Mike" Barschow's Obituary
Clifford Michael “Mike” Barschow, 86, of Pearland Texas, passed away on March 22, 2024, after a
short illness.
The funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday May 6, 2024, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church
Chapel in Pearland, TX. Father Luis Garcia of St. Helen’s Catholic Church will be officiating.
Visitation will be held May 5, 2024, from 5 pm – 7 pm at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland,
TX. Burial will follow the funeral mass at South Park Cemetery on May 6, 2024.
Mike was born in Avon Lake, Ohio on January 16, 1938. Mike graduated from Avon Lake High
School (his mother’s and his 3 children’s alma mater). He graduated from THE Ohio State
University with a Bachelor of Artsin History. Mike’s first work life chapter was teaching high school
History at Columbia Station HS where he met some of his lifelong friends. After he met the love
of his life Barbara (married nearly 60 yearsin June 2024) and his family began to grow he started
another chapter with American Greetings in Cleveland, OH, where he spent the next 35 years
before retiring. Mike’s true love (2nd to his family) was sports. On many a weekend afternoon you
would find him cheering on his favorite teams. That love of sport spilled over into his children’s
lives where he was their biggest cheerleader. Although Mike passed away in Pearland, Texas, with
his children by his side he spent nearly his entire life in Avon Lake, Ohio, where he leaves behind
many friends and family.
Mike is survived by his brothers Terry (Linda) Barschow and Dennis (Sheila) Barschow, his Children
Jean McLean (Rob), Shelly Dyer (Mike) and Mike Barschow(Holly), his Grandchildren Sean McLean
(Sara), Kyle McLean, Justin Barschow, Brandon Dyer, Nicholas Barschow and Ryan Rash (Sam), his
Great-grandchildren Connor, Brady, Logan and Kaitlyn born just weeks before his passing.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife Barbara just a few months ago, and his parents Clifford and
Helen(Deasy) Barschow.
