Mrs. Cleta A. Medford's Obituary
Cleta “Kitty” Medford was born June 10, 1924 in Mineral Wells, Texas to parents Clyde and Viola Thomas. She grew up and spent her entire life in the great state of Texas. After high school, she moved to the Houston area where she worked at the Methodist Hospital and it was there that she earned her Nursing License. She spent many years working side by side with renowned cardiac surgeons, Michael DeBakey and Denton Cooley. She later became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Owner. She was a pioneer of the nursing home industry; she opened the first nursing home in Matagorda County, and owned several others throughout the central and southern parts of Texas. She loved to dance, bake, paint, shop and watch classic movies. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Truman Thomas and sister Nita “Bobbi” Joe Hefenbrock, her first husband Dalton Medford, second husband James Hickey, her son Dalton Medford Jr. and son-in-law Terry Barcelo. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Barcelo, Sharon Ford and fiancé Neil Wirth and daughter in-law Linda Burrows; grandchildren: Vicki Morel and husband Joe, Randy Svatek and wife Kim, Kent Medford and wife Danita, Terri Barcelo-Mulvogue and husband Michael, Tyler Ford and wife Britt, Ryan Ford and wife Olivia; great-grandchildren: Jena Morel, Suzann and Lindsey Svatek, Dalton and Camryn Mulvogue, Dillon and Dalton Medford, and Emma Ford; one great-great grandson Joey Morel; along with many nieces, nephews, and relatives. She spent her last 12 years living at Windsong Village in Pearland, TX where she received excellent care from her “Windsong Family.” She peacefully passed from this earth to be with the Lord on April 29, 2015, she was 90 years old. She was an incredible woman, who lived a full, long life and was loved by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she leaves behind, and will be dearly missed. Services will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 at South Park Funeral Home 1310 N. Main St. in Pearland, TX. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Services at 3 p.m. Internment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
