Clarence Arthur Roesler Jr's Obituary
God needed another angel, and He called Arte Roesler to his heavenly home on Friday, April 10, 2026, where he now walks hand in hand with his parents. Arte was born on August 7, 1951, in Richmond, Texas to Estelle and Clarence Roesler and lived the first year of his life in Needville, Texas.
His family then moved to Angleton, Texas where he grew up on 1116 San Felipe Street where he created many memories with his sister, brother and all his neighborhood friends. The house on the corner became the hub of most of the neighborhood outside activities. These included the small baseball diamond worn in the front yard where Arte learned the sport and became quite skilled. His youth baseball career included Little League, Pony League and Teenage League. The on/off front door porch light was the beacon for the neighborhood street games to end when it called him home for dinner as the sun set or the lightning bugs appeared.
Arte attended Northside Elementary School, Angleton Junior High and Angleton High School where he proudly competed and lettered in tennis. He served as a class officer, a member of the Student Council and National Honor Society and was elected Student of the Month, Who’s Who and Class Favorite. Arte graduated in the top 10% of his class from Angleton High School in 1969 and attended the University of Houston majoring in Business and Psychology. He graduated from U of H in 1973. During college, he held down a job at the South Main Street Sears Department store in Houston. He began his career at Sears and eventually served as the manager of several locations. Upon retirement from Sears, he was then hired as store manager of various locations of AutoZone.
In 1979, he married the love of his life, Jeanne Mayeaux, and shared the remainder of his life with her in their homes in Pearland, Texas and Needville, Texas. Although they were not blessed with children, Arte was very eager and willing to “adopt” his nieces and nephews as his own. Arte and Jeanne spent many weekends entertaining them, playing games with them and spending time with them.
Arte was a passionate supporter of the Houston Cougars in all areas of sports. He held season tickets to their games. He spent a good deal of his time the day after those games discussing the details of how the games were played with his Uncles Bernard and Carl Roesler. Among his hobbies, he was a collector of all things “Cougar” and proudly bragged
of owning more than 150 Cougar T-shirts. He also supported the Houston Oilers, Houston Astros and the Houston Texans.
Arte is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 47+ years, his sister Linda Roesler Fox (Larry) and brother Doug Roesler (Cindy), his nieces Misty King and Mikki Roesler Kalina, nephew Barry Roesler (Carolyn), great-nephews Jeydan Kalina and Jackson King Sanchez and great-niece, Jeyla Oliver, and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Clarence Roesler, and Jeanne’s parents, James and Joan Mayeaux and niece Heather Caywood. Arte is also survived by Jeanne’s family siblings Jan Jordan, James Mayeaux, John Mayeaux (Bonnie), Jerry Mayeaux and nieces and nephews Mark Webster (Angela), Blane Mayeaux (Monica), Lindsey Stephens (Michael), great nephews Brandon Webster(Taylor), Joseph Webster (Christian), Markus Webster (Tajwer), Kenney Brewster (Michelle), Brendan Mayeaux, Henrik Mayeaux, Jase Stephens, Everly Stephens, Jameson Marks, Maggie Marks and great-great nephews and niece Eli Webster and Addy Webster.
Although Arte was “vertically-challenged,” he was tall in personality. His dry sense of humor attracted all those around him. He loved to laugh and spend time with his wife and family, especially sitting on the porch sharing stories of the “good old days.” He enjoyed restoring his 1967 Mustang which he purchased for Jeanne’s grandfather, J. L. Hebert in 1987. He enjoyed travelling to Colorado to repel from the Rocky Mountains, camping with Jeanne and their cocker spaniel Mandy in their small pop-up trailer and Coors Beer.
Sadly, in his later years, he suffered from a variety of health issues which hampered his quality of life. However, his family knows that he is now in his final home with our Lord suffering from no health issues or pain and is able to truly SEE the glory of God. He is happy. May you rest in peace, Arte! We ask that you please watch over your loved ones; we shall see you again someday.
At this time, there is no Celebration of Life planned.
