Mr. Clarence Edwin Oliver Jr.'s Obituary
Clarence Edwin Oliver, Jr., born March 23, 1940 in Houston, passed away November 9, 2012 in Alvin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freda May (Prinzing) Oliver and Clarence Edwin "Buster" Oliver. Clarence is survived by his former wife, Marian Matthews; son Bruce Oliver and wife Caroline of Austin; daughter Melanie Darden and husband Brent of Richardson; and grandchildren Amy, Ben, Chase and Cody. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Picha and husband Ervin of Indianapolis; brother, Alan Oliver and wife Effie of Pasadena; nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Clarence grew up in Pearland and attended Baylor University after graduation from Pearland High School. He married shortly after starting college and returned to the Houston area and formed several small businesses in the electronics industry over the years. He will be remembered for his lifelong interest and ability to fix electronic and mechanical devices, most recently as owner and operator of Applied Technology repair shop in Alvin Texas. Clarence obtained his pilot's license in his thirties and enjoyed flying single engine planes. Other interests included camping, and motorcycling, both on and off-road. He was active in the Manvel First Baptist Church in leading the college / singles department during his married years. Clarence will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger - and as always having a story to tell. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 9:00 am at SouthPark Cemetery, Pearland, Texas, with interment to follow. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at SouthPark Funeral Home following the graveside service.
