Clara Pritchett's Obituary
Clara Green Pritchett – who loved church, travel adventures and Elvis Presley – died Dec. 24, 2024, in the care of Reliant Hospice and Precise Care of Pearland. She was 84 years old.
Clara was born May 18, 1940, in Skene Mississippi to Tom Green and Essie Mae King. She moved to Manvel, Texas in 1979 and worked at the Manvel Post Office, a job she loved dearly for 23 years.
She met the love of her life, Jim Pritchett, and they were married on May 27, 1967. They lived in Houston, Texas, and Murray, Kentucky, before settling down in Manvel to spend the rest of their lives together.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Pearland and then Real Life Ministries. Clara enjoyed many community events, such as the Alvin/Manvel Opry with her friends and family.
She loved being outside in her flowerbeds and on her riding lawn mower. She often walked her beloved dogs up and down her street to visit neighbors.
Clara traveled around the United States with family and friends, enjoying a multitude of adventures. She rode on a sled pulled by sled dogs in Colorado, rode horses and wagons in Wyoming, and dipped her feet in the hot springs in Arkansas.
One of her favorite highlights of her travels was going to Graceland in Tennessee where she celebrated her favorite entertainer, Elvis.
Clara is survived by her daughter Renee Martinez and son-in-law Rollie Martinez, her granddaughter Deshana (Stephen) Vavrecka, granddaughter Kaytlyn Vavrecka, grandson Auston Vavrecka and great-grandson Parker Shetter, Sister-in-law Rada Green of Manvel, Grand Nephew Thomas Higgins (Arturo Ramirez) of Spring. Nieces Jeana Green of Alvin, Teresa Goodwin (Greg), Matilda Green, Jennifer Green and Beth Remling. Nephews Byran Green (Carol), Tommy Green (Margaret), Timmy Green, Stacey Green, Robbie Green, Jason Green and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim in May 1997. She is also preceded by her parents, Tom and Essie Mae Green, brothers Thomas Green, Robert Green, and Oliver (PeeWee) Green, sister-in-law Louise Green and nephews Tony Leon Green and Richard Remling and many cherished friends.
Family and friends will keep her sweet joy and laughter forever in their hearts.
