Clara N. Cabell's Obituary
Clara N. Cabell, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 6, 2019 in Pearland, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1930 the youngest of 10 children, to parents, James and Ella King during the depression years in Corsicana, Texas. The family had a rough life, but as the years went by they all went out to make their way in the world.
Clara married Bill Brittain at the early age of 16 and in that marriage, she bore five children.
She diligently raised her children as a homemaker and wife for many years. She also would drive fifty miles from South Houston every worship day to the Missionary Baptist Church on Lindale in Houston with her kids in tow. She started outside work when her oldest was old enough to help watch the younger ones so she could help “make ends meet”. She helped run a Gulf Service Station in South Houston, Waitress at Bill Williams Restaurant in Houston, Sales Associate for Kmart, Waitress at Foley Restaurant Almeda Mall, Restaurant Manager Pasadena Foleys and did floral deliveries for Mary Lou’s Florist in Houston.
Her children grew up, married and had children of their own which gave her a lot of pleasure. During all these years, she found a place to use her singing that she loved doing so much. Her then husband, Jim Tyler, formed a Country and Western band with both of them entertaining at various places.
She continued entertaining folks at The Pasadena Music Club, different Nursing Homes and her present church up until a few short years ago with her present spouse Russ. She found joy in her family, camping, fishing, singing and her church. Her family has lovingly given her many nicknames thru the years from “Red” (red hair in her younger years), “Gram”, to the present “Spicy Grandma”. She leaves behind all her loving family and friends who will miss that spice in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Norvel Russell Cabell; two daughters, Marsha Rudolph, Carla Pittman and husband Jon Sr.; son, Thomas J. Brittain; eighteen grandchildren, Charles Rudolph Jr., Tammie Elmore, Beau Rudolph, Ross Brittain, Kirby Brittain, Heather Halsted and husband Danny, Wendy Cagle and husband James, Jon Pittman Jr. and wife Julie, Jennifer Garbs and husband Don, Melissa Molsbee and husband Jeremy, William Brittain and wife Katie, Thomas Brittain Jr.; twenty- eight great grandchildren, Kenneth Haith, Ashley Rudolph, Courtney Rudolph and husband Dillon, Justin Rudolph, Megan Sammons and husband Neil, Amber Comparetto and husband Dillan, Haley Elmore, Erika Elmore, Forest Rawlinson, Sydney Halsted, Lyndsey Halsted, Andie Halsted, Dylan Schroeder, Shelby Schroeder, Lorelei Pittman, Erwin Pittman, Seren Pittman, Tristan Pittman, Everly Pittman, Zackary Pittman, Zoey Pittman, Hannah Fitzgerald and husband Dylan, Mikaela Molsbee, Harley Molsbee, Clara Brittain, TJ “Trey” Brittain; six great-great grandchildren, Memphis Crowley, Kaylynne Sammons, Rylie Comparetto, Harper Comparetto, Olivia Comparetto, Abilene Fitzgerald; sister Velma Hanson; and sister-in-law, Judy King (widow of the late Edgar King); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
