Mr. Christopher Gordon Hegman's Obituary
Our Dad, Christopher Gordon Hegman, was born on June 26, 1954 to Otto & Martha Hegman in Houston, TX. The third of three sons, he was youngest to elder brothers Kurt & Mark.
His unique personality was cultivated by living in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Libya. A talented musician and free thinker-he was the quintessential hippie who honestly believed in the common good for man.
After meeting Lesa in 1978, they were quickly married & pregnant and their first daughter, Stacy was born in May of '79. The 2nd daughter, Morgan, soon followed in 1981. After Hurricane Alicia, the family retreated from Seabrook to the safe, piney woods of Dayton, TX. 1985 heralded the arrival of their only son, Kurt & baby daughter Meagan was close behind in April of 1986 to complete the family. After many pets and 20 faithful years of service to Goodyear-- Dad led a Union strike that lasted over 6 months. He was revered as a dedicated leader and a giving friend. Upon winning Union demands for his co-workers by daily picket-- he went to work for NASA until 2004.After a dark period, Dad turned his life around in 2006. Through his own grit, determination and love for his family- he found his true potential in sobriety. He made amends with friends and family, plans for the future and was happier than he'd been in a long time. He left this world happy, proud and sober-- just as he wished. He is survived by his children, Stacy, Morgan, Kurt & Megan, their Mother Lesa; Brother Mark and Sister-in-law Lynda; niece & nephew Leslie & Mikey Sproat and niece Heidie Hegman. Special cousins include Louisa, Mary, Mindy, John, Peter and Max. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
