Cheriankunju Mathai's Obituary
Mr. Cheriankunju Mathai (Kunjumon) passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 13, 1945, in Mezhuveli, Kerala, India, to Mr. Cherian Mathai (Assariyathu House, Mezhuveli) and Mrs. Rachel Mathai ( Eluvelil House , Manthuka).
Growing up among six siblings, Kunjumon spent his early years in Mezhuveli, where he attended school. Later, he moved to North India, then to Kuwait, and eventually settled in the United States in 2001.
On August 16, 1976, he married his beloved soulmate Alice Skaria of the Nirayannur family, Kumplampoika. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around faith, love, and family. They were blessed with two daughters — Siji, who is married to Fr. Abey
Abraham ,(and their children Helen and Hanna) and Soju, who is married to Jijo Abraham (and their children Elaina and Nathan).
Mr. Cheriankunju was a God-fearing and hardworking man, known for his gentle spirit and dedication to his family. In his later years, he found great joy in gardening and spending time with his wife. He was an active member of St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Houston, where he found strength and community in his faith.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their prayers, support, and presence during this difficult time.
