Mrs. Charlotte Ruth Cantu's Obituary
Charlotte Ruth Cantu (August 3, 1915-January 29, 2010) was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Charlotte was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and left earth to join her husband, family and friends in heaven. We will miss her colorful stories and history of her life. She told us how her family came over from Holland, about riding in horse and buggy, about the infamous flappers of the 20's, World War II where her husband fought while in the Navy, the trials and tribulations of the Great Depression, and how the family moved to Texas. She had a great way of describing everything, and in our minds, we were there with her. We loved her off key singing and sang with her. She had the biggest hugs and the softest lap and every child and grandchild that she met has set there at least once. She will forever live in our memories. She lived a long and wonderful life and lost many family and friends before her. She goes to meet the love of her life, Manuel Cantu and her past husbands, John Weston and the father of her four children, William (Bill) Corey. She loved her mother Jennie Kooiman Helhorst, her father, Harry, and her brother Robert Helhorst from Kokomo, Indiana where she is now greeting them with hugs. Her family was her life and her children were devoted to her. She leaves her four children, Marilyn Corey Fields, Donald Corey and wife Doris, Janet Corey Seiter and husband Larry, and Connie Corey Diehl and husband Ronnie. There were always children around her and while she leaves behind multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great- great grandchildren, we know that she lives on in each one.
