Mr. Charles Hubert Roder Sr.'s Obituary
Charles "Charlie" Roder went peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born in Berwick, Louisiana on January 24, 1927. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS New Jersey, witnessing the Atomic Bomb test in the Pacific. He retired from Rainbo Baking Company after a 30 year career. He was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his vegetable garden and he was known for his delicious tomatoes He also was involved with the Gulf Meadows Civic Club for many years, serving on the Board of Directors, and the Citizens on Patrol. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and the Good News Sunday School Class.
"Pops" is preceded in death by his wife, Nita (Meme), and his brother, "Cap" Roder. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Roder, by his daughter, Dianne Ball and husband Tim; his son, Charlie, Jr., and wife, Carol. Grandchildren are Jennifer Potts and husband J Lee; John Ball V and wife Whitney; Blake Roder and wife, Sarah; Chris Robicheux and wife Linda , Gia Davis and husband Kory:, Shannon Helfert and husband Joe. Great grandchildren are Kinsey and Evan Potts; Ava and John "Jack" Ball VI; Hannah, Britton and Charlie Helfert; Aerica Robicheaux; Maddi, Teagin, and Simon Davis. A Celebration of life will be Wednesday, January 15 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, with visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00, and burial following in SouthPark Cemetery's Serenity Garden.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's name to Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
