Charles Lemke's Obituary
Charles Lemke went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2023, at 87 years of age. He was born to Gus and Pauline Lemke in Yorktown, Texas on August 8, 1935. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High school in Houston and served in the Army Reserves. He married Billie Frances Culver in 1957 and had two children, Susan (Lemke) Jackson and Don Lemke. Charles had four grandchildren, Scott Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Ryan Lemke, and Reid Lemke.
Charles was a long-time member of Park Place Lutheran Church and Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He worked for Southern Pacific Transport for over 30 years as a short haul driver, retiring in 1994. Charles enjoyed hunting, and especially fishing which he did with neighbors and friends for the last few years of his life. He also enjoyed his yearly garden where he grew tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and a variety of other vegetables.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Billie Lemke, parents Gus and Pauline Lemke, his brother Allen Lemke, his sister Dorothy Hooks, and the light of his life his granddaughter Sarah Jackson. He is survived by his daughter Susan Jackson and husband Mike, son Don Lemke and wife Sherry, and his grandchildren Scott Jackson and wife Nicole, Ryan Lemke, Reid Lemke, and various nieces and nephews.
