Mr. Charles Russell Evans' Obituary
Charles Russell Evans, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all, died January 2, 2008 at MD Anderson Cancer Center after his fight with melanoma. He was 92. Russell was born January 27, 1915 in Rossville, Georgia, the son of Emmett and Hattie Evans. He moved to Texas when he was 12 years old. Russell graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1933 and served in Europe in the US Army during World War II.
Russell retired from Shell Oil Company in 1977 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed his 30 years of retirement by playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family and living in Country Place. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Kenyon; brother-in-law, Adolph Rommel and his wife Agnes. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Evans of 61 ' years; sister Helen Smith , two children Ronald Evans and Candy Panto and husband Bill Panto; six grandchildren, Melanie Thomas, Tiffany Glynn and husband Chris, Corrie Kopp and husband Tim, Trey Kuchar and wife Melissa, Matthew Evans, and Sarah Evans; and five great grandchildren; niece Sandra Gengler.
