Mr. Charles George Elsner Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Charles George Elsner Jr. passed away in Pasadena, Texas on May 11, 2018. Charlie was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 13, 1935.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Elsner; his sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sara Elsner, David and Kathy Elsner, and Paul and Rachel Elsner; thirteen grandchildren: Elijah, Isaac and wife Haley, Grace and husband Paul Griffith, Olivia and husband Ray Clark, Brian, Ben, Haley, Gloria, Clara, Noah, Adam, Mercy, Emma; and many close friends.
Charlie was born and raised in St. Louis, MO., the son of Charles and Teresa Elsner. In his early years in St. Louis, Charlie learned the Sheet-Metal trade. He served in the Army Reserves for 2 years. He met his wife, Anna Mamanella, moved to Pasadena, Texas, circa 1963 and began raising their family of three boys. Having a warm and approachable personality, Charlie found enjoyment and success in the retail business and stayed with that field for his entire career.
Charlie enjoyed playing golf with friends, and took up HAM radio. He loved to play the accordion, and piano. He was also gifted in oil painting. He and Ann traveled the world, and loved to work summers (during their retirement years) in Yellowstone National Park. He also loved playing card games with his children and grandchildren.
Charlie was a devoted husband and father, and a committed Christian. He loved the Lord and would tell people about Christ with boldness. His favorite bible verse was Psalm 103:1-2. As one of his granddaughters recalls, “I would go with him to the nursing homes each week to help lead services for the residents there. That is the kind of man he was… he was man of love and joy. He was a man of faith. And raised his family in the ways of Christian faith.”
Charlie will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Yet we rest assured to see him again in Heaven.
Funeral visitation will be held MAY 16th from 05:00 PM - 08:00 PM, South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX, US, 77581. The Funeral Service will be held May 17th at 10:00 AM followed by graveside service. http://www.southparkfunerals.com/
