Mr. Carroll Monroe Cobb's Obituary
Carroll Monroe (Curly) Cobb passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 15, 2020. He was born on August 11, 1958 in Houston, Texas to Aubrey and Dorothy (Strader) Cobb.
Curly graduated from South Houston High School in 1976. He was an active member of Main Street Church of Christ from birth until 1982 when he helped form Southbelt Church of Christ. He held strongly to his faith. Curly talked often about the measureless love of God and how essential to his existence his faith was. He loved the Lord.
One of Curly’s favorite activities growing up was playing baseball. He spoke a great deal about how he begged his daddy to let him play and how neither of his parents ever missed a game from day one. He was so proud to talk about how everyone could hear his mother holler from the other side of the ball park. As he grew up, he played ball with his church for many years. He would tell you that he was one of the best and the guy you wanted when you had 2 strikes and needed a walk-off hit. He would have made a great Astro!
Curly had many close friends. Charles (Chuck) Jardina was one of them. He ended up working for Chuck at Jardina Sand & Gravel for the last 40 years of his life. Chuck and Zana were like a second family to Curly and was often referred to as the second dad to their children William, Deanndra, Josh, Alexis and Kara.
Curly loved his family and friends deeply and devoted his life to all those he held dear to his heart. His children were the most important part of his life. Curly’s most loved activity was to spend time with his children and watch them grow. He carried on his parent’s tradition and never missed an activity his children were involved in. He was a proud dance dad and so enjoyed watching Alli’s dance performances with the Dickinson Diamonds along with the “other” dance moms. As you can imagine, he yelled louder than any of them. If you didn’t hear him across the field, you were probably deaf!
Curly met the love of his life Dusty Smith for the first time in 2015 and got engaged in July of 2019 along with her daughter Caitlin and niece Serena with whom Curly and Dusty adopted. They were planning to marry in June. This made Curly’s family complete and he was beyond proud!
He leaves behind his children, Justin and Allison Cobb, surrogate children Serena Engebretson and Caitlin Peters, and Fiancé Dusty Dawn Smith. He is also survived by brother Steve Cobb and wife Aimee, sister Venessa Cobb-Nylund and husband Darrell, nephew Jason Adams and wife Rachel, niece Shara Sullens and husband Kenny, nephew Robert Nylund Jr. and wife Kristina, niece Wendy Welch and husband Freddy, and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Curly was predeceased by his father, Aubrey Cobb, and his mother, Dorothy Cobb.
All services will be held at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas. A visitation service will be held Friday, February 21, 2020, from 5 to 8 PM. The funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 2 PM immediately followed by a graveside service at 3 PM.
