Carol Sue Krengle's Obituary
Memaw Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Sue Bruns Krengle, a beloved
wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Carol went home to be with the Lord
on February 4, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 10, 1948, to Otto and Bernice Bruns, Carol was the
youngest of five children: brothers Otto and David Bruns and sisters Janet Swisher and Lois
Drake. At three years old, she moved to Texas, where she built a beautiful life filled with love,
laughter, and adventure. She was a proud graduate of Incarnate Ward Academy. In January
1969, she married the love of her life, Clifford Krengle, and they shared 56 wonderful years
together.
Carol was a devoted mother to her three children: Karen Crumley, Alisa (Andrew) Biondo, and
Adam Krengle. She was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Grant, Madison
(Matthew), Lilly (Chase), Sadie (Trevor), Mikayla, Ella, and Brayden. She was blessed to be a
great-grandmother to Kaaya, Hayes, Rawlings, and TJ. With many nieces, nephews, and
cousins, her family was her greatest joy, and she loved nothing more than spending time with
them, sharing stories, and making memories.
Carol had a deep love for the outdoors, adventure, and animals. Chances were, you could find
her sitting on the porch swing with a cup of coffee, tending to her garden, or enjoying her
afternoon Diet Coke. She loved road trips and traveling to new places, but some of her favorite
moments were spent right at home at the lake. Animals had a special place in Carol’s
heart—she had a soft spot for every stray that wandered into her yard, and more often than not,
they became part of the family. She also had a passion for arts and crafts, and many of her
beautiful creations found homes with family and friends.
She was a woman of strength—though Alzheimer’s challenged her in her final years, it did not
win the fight. Carol fought bravely with unwavering love and a spirit that was never dimmed. She
was cared for deeply by Serenity Gardens Assisted Living, Divinity Hospice, and all of her
incredible caregivers. She finished her race with grace and faith, knowing that her victory was
already secured in Christ. She knew the Lord, and now she is healed, whole, and rejoicing in
His presence for eternity.
Her laugh was the kind that filled a room—infectious and full of life. While we mourn her
passing, we celebrate the incredible life she lived—a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering
devotion to her family.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Bernice Bruns; her brothers, Otto and David
Bruns; and her sisters, Janet Swisher and Lois Drake. She is also preceded in death by her
sister-in-law, Virginia Bruns; her brother-in-law, Butch; and her nephew, Stephen Bruns.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Mary Queen Catholic
Church. The visitation will begin at 10:30a, followed by the Rosary at 11:30a, and Mass at
12:00p. Following the Funeral Mass, she will be laid to rest at South Park Funeral Home at 2:00
PM.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store
for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that
day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
