Mrs. Carmen Luna Mottu's Obituary
Carmen Luna Mottu, 85, entered into the loving arms of our Lord on August 15, 2019. She was a native Houstonian born to Dolores Manriquez and Emilio Luna on February 26, 1934, and had six brothers and four sisters. She went on to work at Nabisco in June of 1966 until she retired after 33 years in February of 1999.
Those who were blessed to know Carmen knew that despite her small stature, her presence and personality was big enough to fill a room and her smile was big enough to warm anyone’s heart. Her sense of humor and quick wit kept you on your toes all the while making you feel loved and welcomed. You could always find her at church on Sunday mornings decked out and dressed to the nine’s with a matching hat in a pew close to the front. Despite the many years of a beautiful life lived, she never lost her spark.
Carmen is survived by her siblings Emilio Luna, Alfred Luna, Joe Luna, Lucy Hernandez, and Francesca Luna Shoemaker; her five children Roseann Bailey and husband Richard, Alva Sepulveda and husband Carlos, Roy Mottu and wife Dee, Velma Flores and husband Felix, James Mottu and Kenia Garcia; her grandchildren RoxSann Bailey, Rozette Dumel, Richard Bailey, Ryan Sepulveda, Justin Sepulveda, Jessica Mottu, Jasmine Mottu, Jade Mottu, Monica Comeaux, Felix Flores and Anthony Mottu; her great-grandchildren Matthew Dishongh, Micah Dishongh, Carlie Bailey, Heidi Demel, Ivan Demel, Kailey Sepulveda, Amelia Sepulveda, Kash Sepulveda, Leyla Sepulveda, Honey Sepulveda, Solomon Mottu, Alexis Comeaux and Amaya Pot; and last but not least, her longtime companion, her “Honey”, Wilfredo Hernandez (Willy). Proceeded in death by grandson Carlos Mottu Sepulveda, sisters Rosie Crespo, Lillie Duran, brothers Felix Luna, Richard Luna and Tim Luna and sister in law Emparo (Pye) Luna.
Although our hearts are heavy and sadness may linger we have gained a sense of peace knowing our beloved sister, Mom, Momo, and “Hat Lady”, is resting peacefully and pain free with her Lord and Savior.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, August 21, 2019, for visitation at South Park Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00 PM with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with a procession to follow to Forest Lawn Cemetery.
