Bruce Wayne Rector's Obituary
Bruce "Wayne" Rector, or “Bat Man” referred to by his grandchildren.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bruce "Wayne" Rector, passed
away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the age of 85.
Born to Howard and Mabel Rector, Wayne grew up with a love of family and an enduring commitment to hard work and integrity in North Carolina. A proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard, Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Upton, and son, Tracy “Todd” Rector, Wayne leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julie Rector, who shared with him nearly five decades of love, laughter, and partnership. He is also lovingly remembered by his children: son Christopher Rector; stepdaughter Kimberley Sherman; and stepson Dorian Strickland and his wife Christina.
Wayne's greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, who knew him as a kind, and fun-loving patriarch. One who had an “over-the-top” affinity for his dogs. His memory will be carried on by his grandchildren, Alexander Strickland and his wife Angela, along with their children Kyrsten, Aubree, and Jay; Kaylene Sherman and fiancé, Kie Martin; Morgan Briand and her husband Alex, with their son Finnegan; and Tori Sherman and partner, Joseph Pandolph, with their son, Jack. And numerous other extended family members across generations.
Wayne's unwavering love and dedication to his family remain a beacon of strength and
inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy is one of kindness, and a profound commitment to
those he held dear.
A memorial service celebrating Wayne's life will be held at South Park Funeral Home, in
Pearland, Texas on Thursday, December 5th, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly
requests donations be made to Shriners Hospital, an organization close to Wayne's heart.
