March 31, 1959 – January 30, 2025
Brian Keith Newsom (Keith), born March 31, 1959, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 65. He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Joyce L. (Askin) Newsom. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, James Gordon Newsom; sisters, Donna J. Newsom and Sandra L. Smiley (Jerry) Zatopek; nephews Joshua L. Zatopek and Jacob N. (Lauren) Zatopek; niece Julia L. (Clayton) Ferguson; great nephews Barrett F. and Trace L. Zatopek; aunt Sylvia (Williams) Newsom and many other family members and friends.
Keith loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorsports of all kinds. He was a longtime member of Price’s Creek Hunting Club in New Hebron, MS, where he enjoyed hunting and socializing with family and friends. In his later years, he spent most of his hunting time with friends on their family land near Joaquin in east Texas. Keith seemed to have had a special touch when fishing as he always seemed to land the most and best fish during the family vacations to Rockport, TX.
Keith graduated from Pearland High School in 1977. He attended Sam Houston State University for one semester and then completed a HVAC certification program at Alvin Community College. He worked for Atlantic Technical Services at the port of Houston before finishing his working career at Dockside Marine in Bayou Vista, TX.
Keith will be missed by many friends, family and acquaintances. He will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Barry Irish, James Irish, Harry Isidori, Larry Kliesing, Jimmy Kubin and Keith Scotton.
