Mr. Bret Muller's Obituary
Bret was born in Pocatello, Idaho on December 23, 1960 to William Henry Muller and Sarah Jane Richardson. He spent his early years in a landscape that he never forgot. When his family relocated to the Houston area in 1969, Bret became the quintessential Texan, a long lanky frame between a cowboy hat and boots. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors, following sports, fishing and hunting and, along with the rest of his family, motorcycle riding. He will long be remembered with his trademark bandana around his head, a satisfied grin on his face, riding his Harley. He regularly rode with numerous family members including a cadre of cousins who planned annual road trips together on their bikes. Though the family will ride with one less biker now, they will long carry with them and remember Bret's blue-eyed enthusiasm and love for the open road. A skilled mechanic by trade, Bret valued his employment at National Oilwell Varco, where he made and worked among many friends. Bret was the older twin to his brother Bart. Always bigger, as a baby he was affectionately called "Moose" because he was the brawnier of the two. All who knew Bret and Bart observed that special relationship that can only occur between twins. As toddlers, they played together; as teenagers, they rode bikes in Houston and Pearland and skateboarded off rooflines together; and as young adults, both entered the armed forces after high school. Bret had hoped to make the military a career but when an injury changed those plans, he started doing mechanic work and found he possessed a natural ability. Hailing from a heritage of hard workers, Bret became a master of his craft. Bret's truest joy came about in 1997 when his son Cameron was born. Bret was a devoted father and beamed when he talked about his son. Left to cherish his memory with son Cameron Muller are brothers Bart Muller and Richard Sparks (and Martha)--all of Houston, sister Debra Brown (and brother-in-law Jim) of Evans, Georgia, numerous members of the Harrison-Richardson family including cousins, aunts and uncles, a niece (Shayla Salzman of Berkeley, California), two nephews (Brian Sparks of Houston and Quinn Warner of Fairfax, Virginia), Portia Hames, special friend Tammie Hazen, Carlos Hinojosa, and dozens of friends he either worked with or made along life's road. Gone too soon, Bret will be remembered as a man who loved deeply and always found the humor in life. He will be greatly missed by his vast family and friends and those who felt like family. Though his love for Idaho never wavered, he claimed "H-town" as home. He loved living around the family that helped him become his own man. Bret was preceded in death by his father William Henry (Bill) Muller and his mother Sarah Jane Walling.
